Mark for follow up

You can mark any piece of content on Threads for follow up. Whether it's a thread, a specific block, a response or a chat message, mark it for follow up when you want to be notified about it later.

Overview

You can mark any piece of content on Threads for follow up. The content will be automatically added to your inbox at the time you select that you planned to follow up on it.

Mark for follow up

From your inbox

Efficiently triage your the threads in your inbox by marking them Done or to Do later. When you click on a notification in your inbox, you'll automatically be taken to the triage mode where you can quickly triage through all of your threads.

To mark a thread for follow up later from inbox:

  1. Click on any notification from your inbox

  2. Use the keyboard shortcut f to mark it as Do later

  3. Select when you'd like to follow up on the thread

From a thread, block or response

Mark any thread, block or response for follow up as you're reading through it.

To mark a thread, block or respond for follow up:

  1. Go to the thread

  2. Scroll to the piece of content you want to mark for follow up

  3. Hover over the top right corner of the piece of content

  4. Select the icon for Follow up

  5. Select when you'd like to follow up on that piece of content

Anyone else who views the thread will see that you plan to follow up on this piece of content.

From a chat message

Mark any chat message for follow up. Everyone else in the chat will be able to see that you plan to follow up on the message, and it will be shown in your inbox when it's time for you to follow up on it.

To mark a chat message for follow up:

  1. Go to the chat message you want to mark for follow up

  2. Hover over the top right corner of the message

  3. Select the Follow up icon and set the time when you'd like to follow up on the message

Everyone else in the chat will be able to see that you plan to follow up on that message.

Visibility

When you mark a block, response or chat message for follow up, anyone who views that content will be able to see that you plan to follow up on it. If you're using the inbox to triage through threads, your teammates won't be able to see which of those threads you plan to follow up on.

This visibility can be a useful to set the expectation that you plan to follow up on the content later, so the person who sees this status can keep that context in mind.
