Organization set up
Set up and manage your team's organization on Threads.
Overview
Your organization is your team's home on Threads. It's made up of channels for starting threads and chats for sending messages.
Organization admins set up the settings and permissions for the members, and can customize the organization to fit the team. Only admins will have access to an organization's settings.
Set up channels
When your team is new to Threads, the admins may want to set up channels for their company to make the transition to Threads easier.
Set up channels for teams, projects and workflows. Start small, and add channels as your team needs them. All members will be able to create their own public or private channels within the organization.
Private channels or public channels?
All organization members can create public or private channels. Public channels are discoverable by anyone in the organization and a private channel is only accessible to the people who are directly added to it.
If the information in a channel is not sensitive, we recommend making the channel public so anyone in your organization can access that information if they need it. Unless someone is added to a channel, or adds themselves, they will not be notified about it, but can discover the content through search or if it is shared with them.
To create a channel:
Go to the left side of Threads
Under Channels click Add channel
Add a name and adjust the privacy setting of the channel
Organize with sections
Individuals can organize their channels in sections. The sections will only be visible to the individual on the left side of their view.
⭐️ Star any chat or channel to automatically add it to your Favorites section.
Set up group chats
While your team can send chats to individuals or create group chats, you may want to set up a few group chats for your company or specific groups of people on your team.
Group chats are not discoverable, and you must be added to a group chat to have access to it.
To create a group chat:
Go to the let side of Threads
Go to Chats and press the +
At the top of the screen, add individual people to the chat or click Create a group chat
