Channels
Create, join and organize your channels.
Overview
Channels give your organization a shared view of the areas of work that are happening within the company. Threads are organized into channels and the channel can be public or private.
Anyone in an organization can view or join a public channel. You must be directly added to a private channel.
Access your channels from the left side of Threads.
Create a channel
Anyone in an organization can create a channel. The creator can select whether they'd like to make their channel public or private.
Public channels are visible to everyone in the organization and anyone in the organization can join the channel
Private channels are only visible to the people who are directly added to the channel
To create a channel:
Go to Channels the left side of Threads
Click the ... next to Channels
Select Create a channel
Join a channel
Browse the list of public channels in your organization and join as many public channels as you'd like to.
If you would like to join a private channel, you'll need to be invited by an admin of that channel.
To browse the channels in your organization:
Go to Channels the left side of Threads
Click the ... next to Channels
Select Browse channels
Channel organization
Organize your channels into sections. Sections help keep your channels organized, and are only visible to you. You can put in channels or chats into your sections.
To create a section:
Go to Channels on the left side of Threads
Click on ... and select Create a section
Pin a thread
To bookmark a thread, you can pin it to a channel. This makes it easy for anyone in the channel to access the thread.
This can be useful for Threads that are referred to frequently or to give context around what the channel is used for.
To pin a thread to a channel:
Go to the thread in the channel
Go to the top of the thread and click ...
Select Pin thread
Move a thread
Threads can be moved between channels.
To move a thread to a different channel:
Go to the thread
Go to the top of the thread and click ...
Select Move thread
Enter the name of the channel you want to move the thread to
Click Move thread. The thread will not be visible to the audience from the existing channel as well as the new channel it is now a part of.
